"Comcast Cares Day is a celebration of our company’s year-round commitment to service, and has grown to become the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer event. In 2017, more than 100,000 of our employees, their friends and families rolled up their sleeves and joined with our community partners to give back at more than 1,000 local projects across the U.S. and in 22 other countries. Since Comcast Cares Day began in 2001, volunteers have contributed more than 5 million total service hours to improve local communities."

MORE INFORMATION FOR LITTLES/FAMILIES

Kids become lifelong readers for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes there's one key book that captures a kid's imagination. Other times, a teacher assigns a great book that sparks a hunger for more big ideas and fine writing. Or a librarian puts the right book in a kid's hands just when they need it. Or kids see parents, caregivers, or siblings read for pleasure.

SCOUTING PROGRAM INFORMATION FOR LITTLES

Leaders of Scouts in our area would like to engage with children in the Big Brother Big Sister program. Following is some information about their programs:

Cub Scouts- children (boys and girls) from kindergarten to 5th grade.

Scouts BSA- comprises activities and merit badges designed to build character and leadership skills, develop physical fitness and outdoors appreciation, and good citizenship. There are 138 merit badges offered in a wide range of industries and hobbies.

Venture Crews- students ages 14-21, high adventure activities, such as rock climbing, white water rafting, and scuba diving.

Explorer Clubs- teaching youth career and personal skills through immersion in a variety of career-centered activities. Age groups 10-14 and 14-21. Members plan, discuss, and conduct visits to any of 64 industries to learn about various careers.

Enrollment Fees - $39 for each group which could be waived for eligible youth. Programs costs vary with activities, but scholarships and grants are available to support deserving youth.

One of the best aspects of the Scouting program is built around the Scout Oath and Law, which teach youth to develop their moral compass and improve their personal discipline. Youth in these groups provide positive peer support for "good behavior" while enjoying the great outdoors.
